Now that we’ve finally made it through January I thought it might be time to look ahead at the key kitchen trends for 2025. From retro kettles to ‘naked kitchens’ read on to find out my trend predictions for the year ahead.

Colourless

When chatting to our friends about putting in a new kitchen, we tend to ask “what colour are you going for?” however, for 2025 we’ll see an increase in the number of people seeking sustainable wooden kitchens thanks to a societal move to reconnect with nature. Featuring clean lines and a neutral colour palette, there’s something incredibly calming about a wooden kitchen, perhaps it’s their unique imperfections which add depth and authenticity to spaces. A nod to nature, wooden kitchens help connect us to the outside, and thanks to sustainably sourced wood (oak & walnut), we can rest in knowledge that our new kitchen hasn’t harmed the environment either.

Bold Veinity

I love a veined work surface, with the rise in popularity in expansive splashbacks covering the back walls of our kitchens, we’ve seen a shift in people opting for stand-out marble designs that provide an artistic feel to homes. With so many colour and veining options on the market thanks to developments in the quartz and solid surfaces markets, a marble-effect splashback is now an affordable option.

Bistro Chic

From pretty frilly curtains and vintage crockery, to embroidered napkins and gorgeous lace table cloths, adding a touch of French chic into the home couldn’t be more on trend right now. With bistro chairs, copper pans, bone-effect cutlery and retro kettles popping up everywhere from Dunelm to Le Creuset, this is a trend that I’m pretty excited about incorporating in some upcoming interior designer in Lewes projects this year.

Dining Nooks

Creating cosy and informal dining spaces in nooks in the home will be popular this year. From bay window dining to built-in benches (great for storage too), these new dining spaces will provide inviting sociable places for guests to sit and chat.

Layer the Lighting

Task lighting is very important in a kitchen. Of course bright lights are required, with an interior designer in Lewes suggesting these be dimmable, the combination of wall lights, pendants and lamps in the kitchen create depth. Simply pop the lamps on for a cosy afternoon in, turn on the pendants for homework on the island, or switch on the wall lights for finishing off the cooking whilst guests continue to chat undisturbed by bright lights above.

The kitchen for me is the heart of the home, so I can’t wait to get designing and incorporating touches of these wonderful trends in my upcoming projects this year.
