As interior designers in Tunbridge Wells and interior designers in Lewes we’ve been enjoying the recent trend for big statement lighting around the home. We particularly love this look on kitchen islands as shown below by Jamie Thomson Photography, however no one wants to see a cable hanging across the counter and hooking under the bar stools and this one has likely been hidden for the photoshoot.

There are loads of beautiful statement rechargeable lights out there, Pooky do some wonderful ones and you’ll even find some more budget friendly options in Dunelm, however we’ve been looking around for a cordless oversized statement vase style lamp for some time and just haven’t seen one we love, so we’re going to try adapting a lamp that’s just perfect to try and create our very own cordless design.
Why make a battery-powered lamp?
Portability – No wall outlets needed.
Customisation – Pick the brightness, style, and materials you like without being restricted to the
cordless lamp options available on the market.
As interior designers in Lewes, we fell in love with this gorgeous green lamp base from Pooky, and the plan is to cut the cord and replace the E27 lightbulb with a rechargeable E27 lightbulb from Amazon to give us a remote controlled cordless lamp that is a real showstopper.

We’ll let you know how we, as interior designers in Tunbridge Wells get on.. so heck back soon to see whether our idea worked!
And hopefully even if you’re not an interior designer in Lewes or an interior designer in Tunbridge Wells, this project can help you create a unique lighting piece that perfectly complements your home’s aesthetic.
Final Thoughts
Whether you’re preparing for power outages, or adding a cosy glow to your home, your handmade lamp will shine—literally! And if you ever want it to fit seamlessly into a professionally designed space, take note from an interior designer in Lewes or an interior designer in Tunbridge Wells and make it as beautiful as it is functional.
